Occupational Therapy update
Sorry this is a late update things have been pretty crazy as
you can see. So let me talk about my daughter. She went in to have her o.t.
evaluation done & I thought it would help you get approved for the services
and boy was I wrong. I got told she doesn't meet the requirements that Medicaid
has in place to get it. So I go home all sad and worried what I do now. And
well I messaged a follow clubfoot mom for help and she told me to look up my
states automatic qualifier for children that have disabilities and see if
clubfoot is on the list to where she didn't need to be evaluated and just
start. So I start searching on google and couldn't find anything and luckily my
friend did. Arkansas has a guide for parents to look at. Well it’s more like a
book because its 68 pages long. The booklet is titled Arkansas guide to
services for children with disabilities. So I read most of it and one page 12
it says this Orthopedic impairments are injuries to bones and muscles and
include birth defects (for example, clubfoot, absence of a limb, etc.),
impairments caused by disease (for example, polio, bone tuberculosis, etc.),
and impairments from other causes (such as cerebral palsy, amputations, and
fractures or burns).
And so this means that because she was born with club foot
she is entitled to get anything that she needs that will help her feet and
legs. So when she went back to therapy I told them about this booklet is how shes entitled to have o.t. automatically and they have to tell their boss about the booklet and to see what to do from here. Hopefully she'll start o.t. soon. My Princess needs all of the help she can get with the falling, swelling, bowlegged, and she is now wanting to be carried some instead of walking. She had physical therapy yesterday and she fall and she hit her poor head on the wall corner and her head was red for a little bet. And well we both cried(I didn't but I wanted too) I held her to calm her down then she wanted down to walk some and play. I'll update on Monday if she gets it or not.
